April 27
Not a bad weather day but not a sailing or boating day. A cold front moved into the area last night at 6 and the bay had small craft advisory out from 6 pm yesterday to 6 am Thursday morning. That means we stayed in port. We have traveled short days in an advisory but we must cross the bay again and we did not want to go though bumpy ride for 5+ hours today.
Not sure tomorrow will be great but it should not be as bad as today. I mean it is really not a day to be out if wind gusts rise to 30 miles per hour.
After dinner we walked around the storage yard here and man do they have some huge boats. Much too big for us. I do not think I could afford to start the engine let alone run on for day. Now to be fair they have everything from monster big boats to day sailors and boat in great shape at the front of the yard to older boats that are less “pretty” or “well keep up” in the back of the yard.
Given we are staying in port I did the port stuff today. I checked the fluids, washed the boat, polished some chrome, oiled some teak, and cleaned windows. Key start still not working so not sure what to do about people say just keep on keeping on. After completing those chores we selected a marina to stay in tomorrow night and charted our course to it. We can tell we are much closer to the east coast market as the cost has gone up to$ 3.50 meaning a $90+ per night with tax and electricity. Anchoring is free but wind is strong and Dianne and I do want to chance being blown aground. After that we took out our bicycles and rode to a grocery store to stock up with stuff. This is mixed blessing we now won’t starve but Dianne will want to eat on the boat meaning I will cook today and most likely tomorrow too.
Last night a bald eagle landed with a fish on the next dock over and sat there and ate it. The crows and seagulls both sat on near by poles and watched for dropped pieces.
Me cooking on boat and thinking, "What do you want? dinner or a damn photo". Note only 1st mate cooks.
I call it battleship row, Could also be showing "Phallic symbols"
Grocery shopping today
