June 1
Picton Ont. to Trenton Ont 35 miles
Yesterday for no reason the key start began working again. Today for no reason it stopped again. Beats me what the heck is going on. I suspect it is a neutral connection. However I can not find it or figure it out. So I guess we wait for it start working again. On other fronts I have a plan to try again on the Thurster but I think it will be a challenge.
Today’s word was wet very wet! Woke up and it cold and windy had hot coffee felt and some bagel felt a little better about moving so started out. Leaving the dock was good but as soon as were well clear of the dock the weather closed in on us. It got so dark we turned on the navigation lights, Radar and cockpit lights to see the panel. Then came thunder, lighting and rain. Could see nothing but about 1/4 mile but radar showed the surrounding area, buoys and traffic so we limped slowly forward. It finally passed and we sped up and the weather closed in 3 more times during the day.
Seen on the move:
- 3 cruising boats
- 1 police boat (he flew by and left a hell of a wake to deal with)
- 4 other Ranger Tugs (three in the marina and one moving by)(the Joy Sea we saw in New York City)
- 7 swans
- 3 islands completely under water
- 2 bridges we passed under
- Heard 3 small craft warning for lake Ontario due to squalls and thunderstorms
- 1 Canadian Coast guard Radio check
