JUNE 12
June 8 travel BobCaygeon to Balsam Lake 20 miles
It was fast trip over, all we had to leave above the lock which we did at about 8:15 AM. That was magic time we left just after two other boats. They quickly disappeared from view but we just chugged along. Lake Sturgeon has a big bend in it so I was not surprised to lose sight of the other boats. However we seemed slow. Fenelon Falls just a short jog up a river and there was the lock still open and green light was on so in chugged. The Next lock was short jog across another lake and again we arrived in time to lock thought. The faster boats seemed a little put out having to wait for us and asked our cruising speed. However this was our last lock and the fellow seemed pleased.
Stopped to check with a couple of marina for diesel and see if they would fix the stern thrusters neither had time. So on to Frank’s place.
Tied off and visited with Mr. Murray a fine gentleman who has run the marina here for at least 60 years. His daughter and her husband ran it after him and are now retired.
Had a dinner with Frank and Marilynn and caught up on family news.
Thursday shopping and I spend time looking ahead and calling Marina’s to see if I could find someone that would fix the stern thruster, The Third place in Port Sevren agreed to do it on June 23. There is again Hope!
Friday and Saturday spent visiting with Dianne’s other sister Sharon and her husband Rupert. Sunday was restful day.
Monday & Tuesday the plan is to visit Dianne’s Mom and my sister.
Back here to try and install new toilet on Wednesday.
Thursday I figure I spend looking for some to fix what I break on Wednesday.
Friday his a wedding of close friend’s son.
And Saturday I start out again.
So there is an update for those of you who complained I was slacking on the job. And you know who you are!
