June 19

Balsam Lake to Lake Simco Entrance (5 locks plus one lift Lock 23 miles)

A lot has happened since last post so here is a daily set of notes to catch all people up to date.

Wed. June 8 Arrived at Balsam Lake and started visiting Marilyn and Frank

Thurs. June 9 Went to town to do shopping and make sure our plans were made and searched for a Marina willing to do repairs. Dianne had a Doctors appointment that was canceled due to not being in state for the phone call.

Friday June 10 Sharon and Rupert arrived and we had a good visit with them.

Sat. June 11 continued visit the three sisters and had a turkey Dinner

Sunday June 12. Was slightly less busy just relaxing around cottage and spent time plotting days into the future and when returning home.  Turns out should be around Aug. 1.  Plus I updated the blog.

Mon. June 13  Drove to Visit Marg Diannes mother.  Then drove to Fergus and had dinner with my sister Donna and Dave her husband it turned out well.

Tues.  June 14 Another Visit with Marg. and Dianne other sister Glenda.  It was great.  Then back to Furgus and visited with Joe and Deb. at my sisters place.

Wednesday June 15 Drove back to the cottage in the morning and made an attempt at the toilet.  It went badly at first but I completed the second try.

Thursday June 16. More boat work Had to change the bilge pump set up and try to plug Transmission leak.

Friday June 17 More attempts at leak (to date not added oil in bilge and no provable leaks.  Then change for Mark's and Nicole’s  wedding which was fantastic.  Plus a late night.  Had just enough to eat and drink so that was good.

Saturday June 18 Plans to start out on boat trip canceled to gale warnings.  Did final shopping and bought a dinner for Frank and Marilyn plus her daughters family.

Sunday June 19 An early start as the day was to start off OK but end with wind in the afternoon.

This morning after coffee had passenger to the Kirkfeild lift lock.   Frank road along making it more interesting as he studies the history of the canal system, it made for a fun time.   Marilyn picked Frank up at the lift lock so he enjoy time with his grandkids and keep on chugging on.

At the next lock we had a locking mate.  The Rocking Chair out of SouthPort NC.  Interesting to visit with this boat as its home Southport NC is about 12 miles from our home harbor.  He is also doing the loop but spent the winter in the Caribbean.  Tied up at the entrance to Lake Simco for the night as it free and we do need to travel further for the repair appointment in Port Severn on June 23.  So I guess we are doing good.
