Trenton Ontario to bottom of Lock 8 22 mile 7 locks
Misquotes here actually ate hole in the screen and start a bucket line taking parts of me out the window last night. So when I started to feel light headed I got up and sprayed some raid cleared the air and went back to sleep. A bumper crop this year.
Last night bumped in other ranger tug owners who informed us that the lock would not open till 10 AM. This slowed our plans way down. Sleep till the grand hour of 6:30 got up had an omelet for breakfast and started out at 8:30. Did not make a difference. Could not buy lock passes or pass though the lock.
Even though we were the first in line to lock though we were the last in due to our “cute little” size. The boats were formed into a raft and locked though as group. This meant we made the same time thought all the locks today so it took forever. But we went a little further than we planned and got a good place at the bottom of the next lock for the first lock sometime around 9:30 in the morning.
I did well driving into and out the locks even without the stern thrusters. I would just coast in and then back a little bit and all was good. Once leaving Dianne started the boat in a little bit of reverse and boy did ever have to hold on tight till she changed the gear. It is not clear whether I left it in gear or she bumped it but no harm no Foul in my book
Thing I saw today
- 7 Swans
- 3 other boats moving north
- 4 boats moving south
- 1 suba diver checking his boat
- 5 fishermen
- 1 large bass that was caught and released
- 5 bridges
- 10 Canadian flags
One of the boats traveling in our group had engine problems so he stopped and dropped an anchor. in the middle of the channel. Then he could not get his anchor back up once things cooled off. He did make into the tie up for the night but i am not sure what his plan is for tomorrow.
