Campbellford to Hasting top of Lock 18
Had a leisurely breakfast. Followed by a long walk around the harbor. Then participated in a Parkinson’s support group meeting. It went well discussed home care I think some of the people can use the help.
Right after the meeting we cast off quickly. Dianne was feeling like she would miss the group which we did as we were the last ones off the dock by a long shot. However at the 3 lock out of the 6 we did we caught up to YoLo and traveled with them for the rest of the day. The distance to the last we fell behind YoLo held up the lock for us and we tied off as joint lift.
At the top of the lock Edith B was there as well as wayward and Joy Sea so the whole group is back together. We visited and had a good conversation. Joy Sea lost their stern thruster yesterday so they are also learning how to prop wash. Dauntless a new Ranger tug was also here going in the opposite direction. So all told there were 3 ranger tugs and two American tugs. in a single line which was very impressive.
Things we passed through
- passed under 3 bridges and one swing bridge
- passed through what I would call 3 lakes
- 6 locks one of which was a double lock. These are huge things and when you first see them they are a little intimidating.
- 2 boat going south
- 2 boats moving going north
- 5 fishing boats
- did 3 successful docking
- 1 woodpecker
- 1 bald egale
- 1 turtle
- 1 old turbine from a mill in the area
- 3 canoes used as planters and 1 boat used as a planter
- one old wooden tug still on an old trailer
Stopped and looked at house prices in this little town and they are asking 500 to 700,000 for a very small bungalow.
Hey, slow down guys. You'll be finished the loop before you know it. Lot's to see. Enjoy it. And we enjoy your posts.
