June 5

June 5  Hastings to Peterbough Top of Lift locks 25 miles

Frustrating moring woke at top of lock 18 and they did leave a key to the restrooms out.  When Dianne used the boat toilet the plunger to piston rod broke, no internal restroom.   Can not fix this till I find a part for a rebuild kind of sucks.   Last night I developed a new plan to temporarily solve this problem an old fashion plunger and just push the stuff out of the toilet.  Also found a RV store in Peterbough we plan to check for parts this morning one of these two option should work.

The ride was a long long day.  First problem is Dianne is starting to feel fuel insecure and want diesel as soon as possible.  Therefore went out of our twice only to find the marina on the map were no longer there.  What a pain and waste of time.

The route took use though Rice lake a shallow lake and extremely weedy.  This makes going very tiresome as I had to stop several time to reverse the boat and wash the weeds off the propeller.

The first lock we came was open and we entered and just behind our came Yolo the big boat we had be following for a couple of days.  All was good going through.  Dianne and I have a new system where either grab a rope through my window or climb up the side to grab a rope from the bow both work well.

On leaving Yolo being a big boat leaves first and high tails it for the diesel pumps at the marina.   Remember he is a big boat.  Took on more than 400 liters of fuel.  This took more than 1/2 hour I had to wait my turn for him and took only 10 minutes including time to pay so I was pretty annoyed.  He apologized and let me in front of the  lift locks as he knew we had visitors waiting for us.

Had dinner with Frank Diannes bother inlaw and Linda (Frank’s sister) with her husband Darcey.  It was nice good food too.
