June 6
Peterbough to Youngs’ Point distance 14 miles and 6 locks.
We arose early and made an attempt to find the part for the toilet. No joy on that. They all said not the same as a RV toilets. But I did figure out a simple solution which is to buy a plunger. Then after using the toilet just pump it down with the plunger. Not Ideal but better than waiting on a new part.
After starting out had to wait at a bridge to open up. Yolo jointed up with us and then a third boat joined up with us. It was another large bridge this pushed up in the locks. But we had no problems in grabbing the cords to keep us against the wall. I even have gotten so good at docking that I can bring the boat right to the ropes and stop so it is easy for Dianne.
Yesterday afternoon a boat chased us a short distance and took pictures of our boat. Then today a guy by the name of Mike came up to the boat. He was clearly interested so we asked him and his friend aboard. They talked for at least for 20 about the boat and even suggested we could sell it to him when we finished.
Leaving a lock there was an oncoming boat which really filled the channel. I had to stop as quickly as possible. I sure would not want to hits some of these bigger more expensive boats.
