Young’s Point to Bob Caygeon 33 mile 4 locks

After exploring the area yesterday afternoon we decided to have a burger at lock 27 bar and grill.  It was great.  We both had Lock 27 Canadian burger which meant it came with Pea-meal bacon, and double cheese it was great.  I also the Canadian dish of Poutine that was also good.  Plus a Canadian beer.  So when to bed full.

Called my buddy Joe and he sourced a new toilet for me so the plunger will not be needed after next week always good news.  Now I just have to install it. We see how that exercise goes.

Got off to a good start this morning leaving around 8:30 we might of left earlier but with the locks not opening till 10.  Our timing was perfect arrived at the lock just before 10 so lost not time locking though.  If fact all the locks time was good.

As far as the trip went it also was good.  Passed a formation called Hells Gate as there is hardly any space and rocks on both side.  Found it well marked and not a problem.  However I have been through this before and I always get nervous.  That is reason on  part of the trip I never cut a corner and keep a sharp watch.   We did go off channel today though as Dianne’s route said it was safe to do so.  That saved some time but made me sweat a bit.  I hate not having markers to follow.

In the afternoon it changed from rainy to Sporty Light.  (meaning it was a little rough but did not even require us to hold on to stuff)

Seen today and other days that I might have skipped

  • four other boats moving
  • 1 guy fishing (way below average most likely because it is a cold rainy day)
  • 3 house boats moving
  • 2 bridges
  • one church on an island
  • a Cottage a wall facing the lake that was all glass
  • a couple of fish ducks. NO loons.  This surprises me as we saw plenty south of here.
  • Also a boat sideways in the lock.  This is a little scary as I had locked next to yesterday.  If he had drifted that badly he would have hit me.

  1. Haven't heard from y'all for a few days. Hope all is well. I've been following almost daily and am very understanding of some of your boat problems and very jealous of your great experience. Happy hour group has missed you both. Travel safe.
