Reverse of Yesterday

Got out of bed this morning and had breakfast on the boat.  Then at 8 sharp the phone rang and the dreaded message came that they did not have the oil we needed for the change.  Kind or aggravating.  Best he could would be noon start but after a quick review we figured it out and the did have the oil required.  So at 8:30 they started.  I removed the front panel was ready for the work.

First thing the guy noticed was the oil hose end clamp was broken.  I did not need that cap to fall off and loss all the engine oil so we put new hose clamp on.  The next problem was a water in the first stage filter.  The mechanic drained that out so another slow accusation problem was solved.  The oil change then proceeded without problems.  So I rate the job as 2 cuss word job out of 10.  Buttoned up the hatches and closed the doors.  Found out that oil changes can be as much as 500 hours apart and the fuel filters up to 1 year or 1000 hour on the engine.

Yesterday there was a small craft advisory and crossed the bay anyways.  The ride was not so bad.  Today there was no warning so left.  As soon we got into the bay it was impossible we were bobbing and jumping around even loosened the counter top holding on to.  So the rough water and lack of dockage at the destination convinced us we needed a better plan. Hence we returned to Bay Lake Harbor Marina.  With the wind and high today we do not need the AC so even without air conditions we are comfortable here.

The next chore for the day was finding spots to stay for the next couple of days.  This required several phone calls and map reviews.  Turns out we did make reservations all the way onto Sunday now all we need is the wind to stop blowing and lake to settle down.

During the walk last night we found that a guy by the Shay lived in Harbor around the 1900’s.  He was a metal worker and invented a steam locomotive was very popular.  I guess that gave him a lot of money.  So he build a house with only steel panel walls and steam powered all metal boat for 20 passengers really neat to see.

The walk around town after dinner was really cool too as most home have picture perfect lawn and gardens.  The homes all date from the early 1900’s and are all well maintained.  So overall as place to see I would rate the area as a 10.
