July 4 Spanish River to Blind River 44 miles
July 5 Blind River to Detour Harbour 47 miles
I must be losing it as I could have sworn that wrote up the July 4th blog but I can not find it and that is a sure sign I am getting old and Can’t remember S—t. So here I go trying to pack two days into one note today and I can hardly hold my head up so it is going to be point form.
July 4
- Tried to leave early but the charting was a bear again so made the start about 8:15 after emptying the black water tank and Filling with diesel
- The weather was not showing anything good Strong Wind advisory and rain.
- Both did not become serious while we out so That was Good news for the day
- The Blind River Marina is almost new so they did not have water at the docks but still charged us 50 Canadian to tie up. Even then their WFI did not work. Plus the docked about as far from the restrooms and showers as possible.
- Explored the town a little not a lot there Saw two fully loaded bicycles on the Trans Canada Hwy.
- Rained most of the night
- I won at bocci ball a raw occurrence.
- Did not see any boats moving during the day it was rough so no surprise there.
- A Ranger tug anchored outside of the harbor for the night but were there at Sunset. Not sure what happened but they were gone in the morning to where we know not. They like us are trying to get home in Florida to take time off.
- Checked Weather before going to sleep it looked bad Strong Wind Advisory with gusts to 27 knots. Very depressed when I went to sleep as Dianne really needs to get home soon.
- We did make reservations for both a rental Car and dock for the boat.
- Dianne is so eager to be home she made me chart the course last night before going to bed
July 5
- Woke early and found to my surprise that the advisory was lifted only some fog.
- Also found that I was tried last night as I left my soap in the shower and had run over to claim it before the Cleaning people took it.
- We expected a long day so we started out quickly after a light breakfast. Having the charge ready meant we got off before 7:30
- Weather at start was rainy and foggy so I used radar and sonar in addition to the GPS.
- Made good time finishing at 3:30. Found Diesel here was only $6 compared to the 10 US in Canada so topped off tank.
- Had dinner out as I was too tried to cook
- Dianne called Customs and Border Patrol and they told her to fill out ROAM app which she did and then the CBP call used and did a Video chat then approved us to be in the USA. Almost painless
