Sept 29
No movement small craft advisory so we stayed put.
Well the small craft advisory is better than gale warnings to there is that. Tomorrow looks ok to travel so we start a move east. Not sure how far east we can go given damage that has been done but will try for a week and see. Current pictures of Fort Myers do not look promising but we will see in coming weeks.
Spent the part of the morning lazying in bed. Dianne is sleeping well so there is no point in waking her early when we have nothing to do but staying in port.
Then we had coffee and more coffee with bagel and jam. Next was a light replacement in the crawl space/sleeping quarter under the table. This required a trip up to West Marine a short walk away, I bought 2 LED replacements, meaning all the lights on the boat are now LEDs a good thing as they are brighter and last longer and use less power than the originals.
Then we took a long bike ride up the coast into the wind a good choice as the return trip is much easier and faster. A quick visit with all my dog buddies that bark at me as I come pass and back to boat. During the ride we bought a steak dinner for tonight and some vegetables to update our supplies. Seems a little scary with all the news on the Hurricane in the gulf.
On returning a boat started sounding his horn at us and it turned out to be a 2012 21 foot Ranger tug with the color scheme as ours. We visited for a couple of minutes he claims he can make 6 knots on a pint of gas with his 30 horse power engine. Maybe but I doubt it my guess is he speed is a little lower but am not sure.
The tide was really low today. How low was it? It was so low I had to adjust the ropes and put the ladder on the side to boat so fenders bounce off something to keep away from the dock. That means we had a 3 foot drop from yesterdays low tide. Some people claimed it Ian and some said the north wind emptied the bay and said both.
Finally before dinner adjust the supports for the canvas covers making the boat slightly lower in the stern, filled the water tank and put the bikes aways to be ready to leave in the morning. Hoping the forecast does not change and new warning comes up.
