Sept 3
Birdsong Marina to 3 miles upstream of Clifton TN in Riverstone Marina
60 miles 5.2 miles to a gallon.
First compare and contrast these two pictures one makes my boat looks small and cheap. And the other makes it look small but expensive.
Note the boat is background is Memphis Queen she was brought up to Birdsong to be converted into a restaurant about 10 years ago and promptly sunk at the dock. If any one wants her it is yours for the taking free.
It was a holiday weekend for sure. We know this for two reasons one we had problems finding a spot to stop hence the long long day. Our first three choices did not work out so had plans to anchor out then lucked out at Riverstone and stopped. No diesel, no showers, no restrooms after 7 but electrical hookup and water so it is steal. AC is working that is a good thing. I can shower on the boat. The second way of knowing is we saw 155 pleasure boats today and 40 jet skis. Only 1 tow and about 5 dickheads that wanted to be less than 10 feet from us going full speed with a big wake.
The scenery on this part of the river is fantastic. The local clearly know where all the beaches are as we many boats beached on them. (note they are not part of the 150 as I only count those moving around us) At one beach I counted 38 boat all in a row with people walking around and visiting no one came out and offered me a cold beer through. (ONE more poor Allan). To make the drive even more difficult there was rain on and off with high temperatures over 80 all day and I was jealous of the people swimming and water skiing. I guess I could have inflated the dingy and tubed if I really wanted to but then we need an observer to ask Dianne to stop when I fell off.A
Clifton looked like a neat little historic town but we did not stop as our goal was to get docked and have a taco dinner before dark. Which we did. Well off to bed now.
