RiverStone to GrandHaven Outside Pickwick TN 55 miles 4.0 Mile per gallon one lock

We arose early and fast as quickly as we could get a little coffee in our bodies with a couple pieces off toast.  I plotted the course on the way just to save some time.  As the river is narrow it is hard to make a mistake driving but it take about 15 minutes to get the course in due to the number of turns.  When we on the lakes it was common to have 3 turn day today was 66 turn day.  The river went every which way.

We saw less small boats till we hit Pickwick lock and dam.  So in the 6 hours on the river I counted 55 boats.  Above the lock I gave up but there were plenty and they a lot did not know how to drive.  I had one boat pass in front of my bow with less than 15 feet space.  I could read the names on the hats they were wearing.  The diver never looked up if he had I would have given him the bird.  I even had the right of way.

Coming into the harbor a storm rolled over us and the harbor was flooding with boats.  Again no consideration for no wake signs or other boats my little boat was rocking rolling and even rotating due the wakes from so many directions.  It was horrible docking it was a challenge as I was being pushed forward, backwards and Side to side.  We waited for the rain to slow slightly to fuel and get our dock.

On the good news this was the first heavy rain during light hours and found the leak in the cabin and tightened the gasket around the hatch.  Next chance I get I will even add some silicon sealing around the outside to make sure I have dry bed.  To the best of my knowledge this is the last problem I have on the boat.

When going through the lock we heard the radio talking to second craft going in our direction and the lock master said he would lock through with us.  But he never showed up and we locked through alone not sure what happened.

The Scenery is fabulous more like the Mississippi and less like OHIO with lots of bluffs and beaches in the turns.  The beaches are there however only because the water level is low.  Most of the homes beside there are one of two types.  The home is raised on posts at least 25 ft above the river or it just roof under which is parked an RV.
