Titusville to Ponce Deleon Inlet 38 mile only 3 bridges
Normal up. But leaving was a little different as I had backed into the slip yesterday. Slip was a short one with poles on the outside so I had use a pole to retrieve all my ropes but it worked out.
It was very cold and windy this morning and the whole trip was into the wind this made for slightly rough start through a large bay. At the end of the bay after passing through NASA lift bridge we were in the OverHaul Canal. The only place we saw fishing boats this morning, as it was the only place that was calm and flat.
All Marina’s in the city on New Smyrna were full so we had to find a new on a little further on the route. Dianne route finder put us to though a spot labeled 5 ft deep. My GPs showed the same route with same depths so I routed us there also. However it was only 2 ft deep as the boat draw 3.5 (if you do the math) we have to run aground again. This time however by stopping faster, and backing up slowly with the waves we were free in about 20 minutes. After reviewing the tracks on the GPS I was where the channel was marked as 9.5 ft so the channel must have moved a little. Checked the prop and shaft no damage, normal spreed when running, no vibrations and no noice. Lucky again I guess.
At tne marina there a 2019 27 Ranger tug that was sunk in the storm. It looked a little sad but could be salvaged with some TLC. Today saw three other boats washed up on shore so it must have a small but vicious hit here.
After checking in here we walked over to the Light house museum one of the better ones I would say. Had all the building and light working. Build in 1875 and operated until 1973 then restored and now working as again as an aid to navigation it can be seen 20 miles out. During WWII it was also used as a look out for german Submarines.
