Charleston SC to Georgetown SC 65 miles

It was another long day.  We tried and had plans for a shorter day but life happens and the marinas closer in were full so the only one was much further out.  We took it and have used 28 gallons of diesel from the last fill when we arrived.  We filled again and that is good thing except the cost of staying is going up all the time.

The day just like yesterday was tough tide coming and going and times of arrival here varying from 7:30 to 3:30 but in the end it settled into 4:30.  As we started before 8 it was a very long day.  However the anchor came up easy and only had to get up 3 times to check drift last nigh I guess I should not complain too much.

On our count we will finish either Monday night or Tuesday morning depending on speed and tides and will power.  I have therefore rented a U-Haul truck as they have one way rentals for a Wednesday morning pickup meaning we be home Friday sometime at the latest.  Not sure how I feel about finishing the trip.  Dianne and are still deciding if we will sell the boat or not.  There is need to decompress it has been a rush in the last few days and now we have get ready for other stuff.

Today there was a string of three high powered boats in a row coming towards me.  The first one past at speed and left a huge wake.  He was not on plan and at the speed he was moving was insane.  The next two were a little better but not good.  Then they passed a cat sail boat.  I heard on the radio just afterwards, “what a line of three pricks”.  This summarized my feelings.  As a reply one of the boats said, “sorry, sorry”.  The Cat came back on with, “BS you knew what you were doing”.  This summed my feeling about them.  I said to Dianne that those guys were from Florida.

It was misty rain and slight fog all day.  So I ran the radar some and had the lights on all day.  Seems odds that after all this time in the boat I still learn stuff about setting and controls.  Today I learned how to adjust the gain on the radar to sharpen the image. But these things are minor compared to how to dock and drive boat.
